4 Days Volcanoes & Akagera National Park

While traveling from Kigali to Musanze, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a short city tour, where you can witness how Rwanda has developed since the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. This progress is a result of Rwandans working together to rebuild their country. Additionally, you will experience the beautiful view of the landscape in the high mountain region of the Northern Province. Along the way, you will also have the chance to interact with the local communities.

Upon reaching Musanze city, you will start to enjoy the splendid views of the chain of volcanoes and embrace the refreshing breeze of nature. You will have a good time to relax while enjoying Rwandan culture at the Gorilla Guardians Village.  Here, you will have the chance to experience unique Rwandan traditional dances and witness traditional wedding ceremonies. Later, you will be driven to the accommodation of your choice.

In the morning after breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven from the hotel to the park headquarters for registration and to meet with your nature guide. From there, you will start on a journey towards the park, where you will have the remarkable experience with the endangered primates that can only be found in the Albertine Rift region. 

After the primate experience, you will return to the hotel to relax and have lunch before continuing your journey to the Twin Lakes.

At Twin Lakes you will experience the beautiful views of the mountains and the rich biodiversity along the shores as you ride a boat. As the day draws to a close, you will enjoy the sunset at My Hill Eco-lodge while drinking Rwandan coffee and you will spend the night at this hotel.

In the morning, after having breakfast at the hotel, you will drive from Musanze to Akagera National Park. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to experience the fascinating IMIGONGO art gallery and you will take lunch along the way. After this enriching experience, you will be able to enjoy the uniqueness of Akagera National Park, known for being the richest in biodiversity among Savannah parks in Africa. Remarkably, ¾ of the total biodiversity in the park is aquatic, making it the largest area of aquatic biodiversity on the continent. As a result, you will have the chance to spot numerous animals in a relatively small area, compared to other Savannah parks.

During the evening, you will go on a night game drive, allowing you to witness the behavior of nocturnal animals, including big cats like lions and leopards, as they go hunting. You will be able to watch interactions among the wildlife in their natural habitat. You will spend the night inside the park, ensuring a truly unforgettable experience.

Overnight at Akagera Mantis Game Lodge

During the early morning, before breakfast, you will go on a short game drive, enjoying the sunrise from the top of the beautiful mountain ridge within the park. You will be able to witness more animals sunbathing in their natural environment.

After the morning game drive, you will return to your accommodation to have breakfast, pack your lunch, and check out. Then, you will proceed with another thrilling game drive. Throughout this experience, you will watch the majestic Masai giraffes, African elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and more. 

After the game drive, you will head back to Kigali. If you wish, you can spend some time shopping before heading back home or staying further according to your preference.
