3 Days Akagera National Park
Itinerary overview
Rwanda is one of the fastest-developing countries in Africa, exhibits rapid service sector growth, significant advancements in infrastructure, and remarkable security. It is best known for hosting international meetings and events. The country has seen such immense progress after the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, attributed largely to good leadership and unity.
During your tour, our professional guide will enrich your experience with insights about Rwanda’s history. The journey begins in Kigali, where you’ll explore different fascinating locations. The adventure continues as you travel from Kigali to Akagera National Park, a unique savannah forest in Africa. Here, you’ll have the chance to encounter the ‘Big Five’ animals, deepening your understanding of African wildlife.
On this day, you will have a unique opportunity to delve into the history of Rwanda, understanding how Rwandans lived during the pre-colonial period, colonial period, and post-genocide era.
First, you will visit Kigali genocide memorial where you will learn more about genocide and its negative impacts on Rwandans.
Next, you will explore the campaign against genocide museum to experience how genocide started and stopped by patriotic young Rwandans.
After experiencing Rwandan history, you will visit the Nyamirambo Women’s Center. Here, you will witness how genocide widows support one another towards development, creating attractive handicrafts. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Rwandan meal in their kitchen for lunch.
After the experience you will travel to Akagera national park.
Overnight at Rhino lodge HB (Dinner & breakfast)
It’s our great pleasure to invite you to experience the uniqueness of the savannah grasslands, a spectacle found nowhere else in the world but in Rwanda. Akagera National Park, one of the oldest national parks in Rwanda, is renowned for its distinctive features that set it apart from other savannah forests in East Africa. It serves as a habitat for the ‘Big Five’ animals, making animal spotting easy while driving through the park.
In the morning, following breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a short game drive to explore the southern part of the park. After lunch, you will enjoy a boat ride on the second largest lake in Rwanda watching both hippopotamuses and crocodiles sunbathing, as well as enjoying panoramic views of Akagera National Park and nice songs produced by beautiful birds.
Overnight at Karenge Bush Camp (FB)
In the morning, after breakfast and packing lunch at the camp, you will proceed with the game drive. During this adventure, you will have the experience of watching fascinating animals, including the world’s tallest land animal, the “Giraffe,” and the world’s largest land animal, the “Elephant.”
After the game drive, you will drive back to Kigali in preparation for your flight. Before departing, you will have some time to shop for souvenirs at the Kimironko market.
NB: We advise you to arrive at Kigali International Airport in the morning, allowing you ample time to enjoy a city tour. Our professional guide will be eagerly waiting to extend a warm welcome, providing you with fast-paced and high-end services throughout the tour.
